Our Feeding Stages

Tiny Turtle stages are designed to support your baby as they develop their feeding skills and confidence with different textures.

Stage One Purees

Suitable from around 6 months when showing the signs of readiness for starting solids

Smooth and silky with no lumps. Perfect for babies starting their solids journey.

Average portion: 1 x 40g cube, once a day

Stage One Finger Foods

Soft foods that can be easily squashed between two fingers and do not require chewing or teeth. Suitable as first finger foods.

Stage Two Purees

Slightly thicker purees with tiny lumps and bumps throughout. These textures help babies learn that foods are not always perfectly smooth, while introducing more complex flavour combinations.

General Age recommendation: between 6-8 months

Average portion: 1-2 x 40g cubes, twice a day

Stage Two Finger Foods

Foods that hold their shape but easily break apart after a few bites. Teeth are not required. Portion sizes can be adjusted to suit your baby's feeding skills.

Stage Three Purees

Purees with more noticeable texture and small soft lumps. Texture varies between flavours to expose babies to a wider range of eating experiences. These purees encourage babies to move food around their mouth before swallowing.

General Age recommendation: between 7-10 months

Average portion 2-3 x 40g cubes, three times a day

Stage Three Finger Foods

Foods that require more chewing to break down. Teeth are still not required baby can chew with their gums. These foods help develop oral motor skills and encourage babies to practise picking up food using their pincer grasp.

 Stage Four Tiny Bites

Small pieces rather than purees. A wide variety of flavours, ingredients and textures helps toddlers continue exploring new foods and building confidence at mealtimes.

Average portion 1 year old 1 x 100g portion, three times a day, plus 2 snacks

Average portion 2 year old 2 x 100g portion, three times a day, plus 2 snacks

Stage Four Finger Foods

Foods that require chewing and offer a greater variety of textures and flavours. Designed for more experienced eaters while still providing plenty of choice for even the fussiest toddlers.

Important Information

Every baby develops at their own pace. The ages, stages and portion sizes provided are general guides only and should not replace advice from your healthcare professional.

When choosing foods, consider your baby's feeding skills, developmental readiness and appetite rather than age alone. Always supervise children while eating and ensure foods are prepared and served in a way that is appropriate for your child's individual needs.

Portion sizes are averages only. Your child may eat more or less depending on their age, growth, activity level and appetite.
